The BBYC Travel Wrestling Team and the West Milford Highlander Junior Wrestling Team and their coaches came together to support the "Pin Cancer Classic", which took place at Butler High School on 12/21. The event benefits cancer research and will be an annual event. Pictured here are both teams together after the match. BBYC went on to capture the Pin Cancer Trophy which they will now hold until the two teams meet up again next year for the second annual event!
Match Of The Week - 1-11-14 - Jake Fiorenza
Jake is a first year wrestler in the BBYC Wrestling Club and like many of the young wrestlers, he has learned well under our couches guidance and direction and the results are starting to show. In this match in East Rutherford, Jake pins his opponent in the second period. Congratulations on a great first pin Jake!
Christopher Connolly 1-4-14 Wayne Hills HS
Four year old Christopher comes from what is becoming a long line of Connolly wrestlers. His oldest brother Shane has wrestled in the program for 8 years, his other brothers, Timmy and joseph are also on the team. Christopher's match was back and forth with a few lead changes and he was ahead late in the 3rd period before losing in the end by only one point. The crowd loved the match and Christopher is clearly a BBYC Club favorite and this match was an instant classic!

The next BBYC Travel Match is on FRIDAY, Feb. 14th at 7pm. Should be an exciting one against Sussex Wantage!
​​BBYC belongs to the Twin Counties Youth Wrestling League which is made up of 50 teams from our entire area. We compete with up to four teams at a time in controlled scrimmages where each wrestler is matched up with an opponent within the same age division, the same experience level, based on established "criteria", and the same weight level. These "scimmages" usually take place on Saturday mornings throughout our season but can also take place on a Friday night.

The "scrimmage" schedule culminates in a end of year tournament. The league is divided into 4 districts and the top two placewinners in each district, in each weight and division move on to a regional tournament that takes place in Hackensack that following Sunday.
​​BBYC encourages all of it's wrestlers to attend as many "appropriate" tournaments as possible, as it is the only way to get better in the sport. Please take notice that there are two divisions, "Novice" & "Open". Novice tournaments have only wrestlers with two or less years of experience and "Open" tournaments have no limit on the experience level of any wrestler. Keep this in mind when trying to schedule your wrestler. Also make sure to please inquire as to coaching availability prior to booking a tournament as not all tournaments are attended by the BBYC coaching staff.
